Welcome to BetaVersion IV of the
struggle with contemporary styles of presentation
After 26 short (speed of light) years on the internet, here’s what I learned about people, on and off the internet:
You will be found. You are seen. You will be interpreted.
You will be cut and pasted into strangers’ algorithms, html, computer files, without your knowledge. If they are kind, they’ll do it in a flattering way.
If they are sick and bad, they will do it any way they want, to suit their unconscious and/or conscious missions.
The third type thinks they peep, hidden. They spy, but certainly aren’t hidden.
As Jean Hantman pointed out in her (200_ ) essay on the techno-schizoid, quoting Allen Garfield’s character in the nearly prescient movie “The Conversation”:
“The bugger gets bugged”.
